3-Aryl-6-hydroxy-5-undecyl-1,2-benzisoxazole-4,7-diones (IIIa-e) have been obtained by the reaction of embelin (I) with aryl nitrile oxides (IIa-e). Their structures have been confirmed by converting them into the corresponding 3-aryl-5-undecylisoxazole[5,4-a] phenazin-4(6H)-ones (IVa-e) and 6-(acetyloxy)-3-aryl-5-undecyl-1,2-benzoisoxazole-4,7-diones (Va-e).
